God Has a Way

Luke 2:1-6 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) to be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.

The journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem was around 100 miles, through treacherous territory. With Mary being “great with child” it is probable that it would have taken around a week to get there. A large part of the journey would be through Samaria, which was unfriendly country. It would be very unlikely, in the event that help was needed, that any would be found. So here they were in Nazareth, Jesus about to be born; but prophecy had stated that He would be born in Bethlehem, 100 miles away. Who in their right mind would make such a journey, with a baby due at any time? But God had a way! The king in his greed, came up with a way that no one could get around paying their taxes. He would make every man return to his home city to be counted. Joseph, ‘just happened to be’ a descendant of David: who “just happened to be” from Bethlehem. It doesn’t matter the situation, or the circumstance: God has a way to fulfill all His will. The Bible says: …one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law… (Matt 5:14) All Scripture, all prophecy will be fulfilled. What He has promised, He will deliver! Even though the king did this for selfish reasons, God used it to fulfill his word. People many times try to explain things, by calling them “coincidence.” As innocent as this may sound, it takes away from recognizing God and His miracle working power. But nothing can change the fact, that everything and everybody, is in God’s control. The Bible shows us many times, people did things with evil intent, when all the while God was using them to accomplish His will. Consider this: What were the intentions when Jesus was crucified? Was the devil trying to help the world be saved? Were the Jews trying to help the Gentiles receive salvation? No! They were trying to do away with Him and His kingdom. But what was the outcome?

John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; it is expedient for you that I go away: For if I go not away, the comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

Even though, their intentions were evil, they provided the way, for the Holy Ghost to come. Mark 10:45 For even the Son of Man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. If Jesus had not died, we would not have access to salvation! God’s plan will be accomplished, with or without man’s knowledge or consent. Even today, man will do what is needed to fulfill all aspects of the Bible. Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

If you truly love God, whatever happens, will work for your good; even when the situation looks hopeless. How did things appear, as Jesus hung on the cross? It looked like all was lost, but victory was really being won. It is God’s will that we be overcomers! If we put our trust in Him, He will see us through to victory!

1 Corinthians 15:57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. O what blessings are in store when we willingly do our part to see His will accomplished! He made the way for mankind to have salvation. It is not His will that any perish, but that all would have eternal life. Whether or not that part of God’s will is done, is up to each individual. But it is also God’s will, that we be victorious, over all the things that try to tear us down. That too, is up to us. Will you allow His will to be done in your life? Don’t you want to be victorious?

God has a way!
