Bishop Donalhue Grimes
Bishop Donalhue Grimes

Albert Donalhue Grimes was born on June 16, 1958, in Red Bay, Alabama, to Albert Thomas Grimes and June Johnston Grimes. His dad was a deacon and his mother a faithful Sunday School teacher and ABM band leader. His wife, Rebecca Ann Martin, was born August 28, 1960, also in Red Bay, Alabama. The Lord would bring them together through her cousin who had been a long time Church friend to Brother Grimes. They have celebrated over forty years of marriage and have one son (Chris) and one daughter (Stephanie), 1 son-in-law (Butch Booth) and four very special grandchildren.

Brother Grimes and his dad would join The Church of God one week after the Solemn Assembly and his mother was seeking God’s direction and attending church with them when she passed away in 1998. Their influence on his life was priceless with spiritual and everyday wisdom and faithfulness. As a minister, Brother Grimes has served the Church in Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas. He has loved music since he was a child and has written many songs as inspired by the Spirit including, but not limited to the BTI Song and CPMA song; both of which are sung often in various state/regional/general events. He has found that Psalm 19:14 will be an answered prayer as he has leaned on the Lord for lyrics and musical inspiration.

When asked how he would advise a young minister, he replied, “Put your life in God’s hands and trust Him completely because Jesus never fails.” He has most often quoted Psalm 139:23 and says that if one phrase could sum up his ministry right now, it would be “I wouldn’t take nothing for my journey now!”
