Thanksgiving

Colossians 2:7 “Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.” The Greek word for abounding is perisseuo, which means overflowing. It is referenced as in “flowing over the brim.” So Paul is telling us we need to be full and overflowing with thankfulness. When “LIFE” collides with us, it spills THANKS, instead of complaints, bitterness, or unhappiness. When others come near they get a whiff of gratefulness, blessings, and true joy! They leave splattered by goodwill and testimonies of goodness instead of “Gloom, Despair, and Agony on Me.” Note that verse 6 of that same chapter says this. Colossians 2:6 “As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:” So, we received something from our Saviour to cause us to be full and overflowing with Thankfulness. Now let us be truthful. Self, the flesh, drains our cup (our Walk) of the peace and joy and blessedness of being thankful. I would have said life, but the Word says IN ALL things give thanks. So the arrow points back to us. It is a conscious choice to WALK AS WE RECEIVED! We received a Cup full and overflowing. As you received, Walk. Does everything truly fulfil Romans 8:28? “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Do we believe God works ALL things for our good? Then let us overflow with Thankfulness. Go back to the source. Fill up once again. Fill my cup Lord, then pour out thankfulness on whoever I meet!
