Commerce held a VBS with the theme “Growing in Christ.” They spoke about how important it is to prepare the ground for planting your garden.  Sometimes you have to remove the rocks.  Sometimes you have to remove bushes.  Sometimes you even have to remove debris that has fallen from trees.  It was made clear that the ground has to be completely clean, so you can break up the soil.  This is how you prepare for planting. In this same way, we must prepare our bodies and our souls to have the Word of God planted within us. These signify the things of the world that must be cleaned out of us to receive the Word. It is so important for us to understand that only that which is planted on good ground will produce good fruit. They also stressed the importance of sunlight (Jesus). We need the light of the “Son” to be able to produce fruit and to see the right path to save us from the dangers of the world.
