Fervent Charity

The world knows the month of February as the month of “Love”. Millions of dollars are spent to extoll the sentiment and depth of love that individuals have for one another. Sweethearts, parents, children, and friends show love to one another in word and deed on this special day. As we all know, this big day of love, February 14th, as Valentine’s Day. Let nothing be said against taking a whole day out of the year to endeavor to show love one to another, recognizing those special in our lives. We also do this by the giving of thanks. In America, one day out of the year is recognized as a day to give thanks. However, for Christians, being thankful and showing love should be every day, all day occurrences.  We want to encourage everyone, go back to 1 Corinthians chapter 13, and study charity. Read again of the love the Apostle John admonishes and encourages us to have in the first book of John! He knew the love of Jesus so well that he referred to himself in the Gospel of John as “that disciple whom Jesus loved.” (John 21:7) Let us never forget the love that Jesus had for us, for certainly it was fervent charity that He had for us. If not for the “no greater love” (John 15:13) that he had, and still has for all mankind, where would we be?

1 Peter 4::8

And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins
